Common Pure Gas Flow Meters

  • Air and Compressed Air
  • Argon (Ar)
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
  • Helium (He)
  • Hydrogen (H2)
  • Nitrogen (N2)
  • Oxygen (O2)
  • Ethane (C2H6)
  • Propane (C3H8)
  • Butane (C4H10)
  • Methane (CH4)
  • Ethylene (C2H4)
  • Propylene (C3H6)
  • Iso Butane (C4)
  • Normal Butane (C4)
  • Pentanes (C5)
  • Hexanes (C6)
  • Heptanes (C7)
  • Octanes (C8)
  • Nonanes+ (C9+)

Most of these pure gases are available in the Gas-SelectX® gas selection menu feature in Models FT1, FT4A, and FT4X pure gas flow meters. The Models FT2A and FT3 can also be calibrated to measure any pure gas.

Carbon Dioxide Flow Meters

Carbon dioxide flow meters are used in both the industrial and oil and gas markets. Food and beverage is one of the largest applications for these flow meters to keep track of the carbonation process of soda, beer, and sparkling wines to ensure that the process is consistent and accurate. In the oil and gas market, carbon dioxide plays a role in oil recovery operations. Carbon dioxide is injected into oil reservoirs to enhance oil recovery by reducing the viscosity thereby increasing the flow rate. Carbon dioxide flow meters are used to measure the flow rate allowing engineers to optimize the injection process for maximum efficiency.

Oxygen Flow Meters

O2 meters are used in the production of chemicals and gases, as well as in the manufacturing of electronics and semiconductors. Oxygen is a shield gas that is used in applications for welding and metal cutting applications. Additionally, oxygen flow meters are used in medical oxygen delivery to monitor the flow of oxygen to different buildings or facilities in hospitals and clinics.

Note that Fox Thermal O2 meters are available with an option to clean and bag for oxygen service.

Propane and Butane Flow Meters

Propane Flow Meters
Flow meters used to monitor the flow of propane are a critical tool in both the industrial and oil and gas markets. They are typically installed in storage tanks, pipelines, and propane dispensing stations to monitor the amount of propane being dispensed, stored, or transported.

Butane Flow Meters
In the industrial market, butane flow meters are used in a variety of applications, including chemical processing and heating/cooling systems. They are used in refineries and chemical plants to monitor the flow of butane and to ensure that the right amount is being delivered to different parts of the plant. In the oil and gas market, butane flow meters are used in the production, transportation, and distribution of natural gas.
